Fire Alarm Small Works Engineer
Location: London & Home Counties
Salary: £36,000 – £46,000 (DOE) + Overtime & Callout

Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced and driven Fire Alarm Small Works Engineer to join our expanding team. If you have a solid background in installing and commissioning fire alarm systems—especially in commercial or residential settings—this is your chance to step into a varied and rewarding role. You’ll manage small-scale projects from start to finish, delivering high-quality installations, modifications, and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out small works installations, upgrades, and modifications to existing fire alarm systems
- Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics for effective execution of works
- Commission fire alarm systems and ensure full compliance with BS5839 standards
- Collaborate with project managers, coordinators, and clients to meet deadlines and site expectations
- Complete all necessary commissioning and compliance documentation
- Provide occasional support to the service team for fault-finding or remedial works
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service throughout all work
Systems You’ll Work On:
Our preferred setup includes Advanced panels with Hochiki devices, but you’ll encounter a broad mix across our diverse client portfolio. Most systems are open protocol, so familiarity and adaptability are key.
Working Hours & Benefits:
- 40 hours/week, door-to-door
- Weekend overtime:
- Saturday: Time and a half
- Sunday: Double time
- Callout Rota: 1 in 8 weeks (Mon–Sun)
- Standby payment: £130
- Callout bonus: 50% of invoice value
- Company vehicle (private use allowed, HMRC compliant)
- 26 days holiday + bank holidays
- Tools, phone, uniform all provided
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 3 years’ experience in fire alarm installations and commissioning
- Strong knowledge of BS5839 and open protocol systems
- Experience with Advanced panels and Hochiki devices is a big plus
- Confident working independently and managing small projects end-to-end
- Great communication skills and a customer-first approach
- Full UK driving licence
